To better align with our practice mission and focus, on January 1, 2025, we will officially launch our rebrand to:
NEUROKIND DESIGN
RESEARCH + KNOWLEDGE
Mission + Vision.
Our vision is to celebrate the natural diversity and unique differences found within our humankind; from our brains, to the way we think and interact, to the ways we live and the spaces we live within.
Our mission is to prioritise kindness and equity to those who live in a world that was not designed for them.
We seek to challenge neurotypical norms around “traditional” spaces and “normative” spatial practices, rather, we celebrate the natural variations in the way neurodivergent people live and the spaces which support and celebrate these different ways of living.
THE SENSORY-SPATIAL PROGRAM
The Sensory-Spatial Program looks at sensory needs through a spatial perspective, drawing upon knowledge and expertise from within the field of interior architecture. The program extends upon existing sensory profiling techniques (used primarily by occupational therapists), by integrating and prioritising the spatial dimension (the interior, built, physical environment).
We believe that the practice of sensory profiling can become enriched by identifying specific elements in the physical environment that can be eliminated to help address sensory overwhelm and specific elements in the physical environment that can be integrated into a person’s environment to better support their sensory needs.
